dated November 10, 1959: Tourism development

Presiding over the third meeting of the Tourist Development Council in Trivandrum on November 9, Mr. Raj Bahadur, Union Minister of State for Transport said: “We should accept the principle that the development of foreign tourist traffic as well as that of home tourism should take place side by side. Because foreign tourist traffic brings more immediate advantage and helps in international understanding, we shall continue to give greater importance to it, but not to the neglect or detriment to the legitimate needs of home tourism.”

Mr. Raj Bahadur said that they all knew that ‘publicity’ and ‘facility’ were the two pillars on which the whole edifice of tourism stood.
