HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti is trying to fan regional animosities by misinterpreting the Supreme Court judgement on the Presidential Order of 1975 and attributing motives to Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan on his stand, LSP spokespersons said here on Monday. Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan had never described Hyderabad city as free zone and he had also clarified several times that there was no mention of free zone either in the Presidential Order or the Supreme Court judgement upholding it. The Lok Satta said the Presidential Order sought to ensure fairness, equity and regional balance in government jobs. It specifically exempted all the posts in the Secretariat, offices of Heads of departments, special offices or establishments, State-level offices/institutions other than non-gazetted posts in major development projects and all posts as defined the Hyderabad Police Act from zonal criteria for recruitment. District governmentsThe TRS was trying to make a political capital by raising a controversy over a non-existent free zone now, they said. Lok Satta was committed to implementation of Presidential Order and GO 610 in letter and spirit. Rural areas in Telangana continued to remain backward like their counterparts in Rayalaseema and upland areas in Coastal Andhra and formation of district governments was a better solution to tackling backwardness, they added.
