Bank issues clarification

Karwar: The Agricultural Cooperative Society of Marukeri in Bhatkal taluk has denied reports that Manjunath Naik (43) who died last week had obtained loan from their bank.

The police had said that Manjunath had committed suicide on November 5.

The family members of Manjunath Naik had reportedly said that he had committed suicide because he could repay the loan he had taken from the Agricultural Cooperative Society.

The bank authorities have described the statement as “mischievous”.
