HASSAN: A 45-year-old destitute woman, Lakshmamma (48) was knocked down by a car on National Highway 48 on Sunday. Police said that she lived in a building under construction and begged for a living in Sakleshpur. A security guard saw her lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to hospital, but she died en route. The police are investigating. — Staff Correspondent
