Minister on rehabilitation

Staff Correspondent

BELLARY: Minister for Revenue G. Karunakara Reddy has said that work on rehabilitating the people who were displaced during the recent floods would be completed in a year.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Reddy said that 270 villages had to be shifted – 133 fully and 137 partially. Officials in the departments concerned had been asked to send proposals, with details of the land and funds required. The proposals would be cleared at the earliest, he said.

“We want to show that the rehabilitation process, including the shifting of villages and construction of new houses, can be completed in a year,” he added.
