Drug administration programme

KOZHIKODE: A three-day mass drug administration programme for the eradication of filariasis will begin on November 11. Additional District Magistrate P.M. Babu will inaugurate the programme at the General Hospital here at 9.30 a.m. Film stars and writers will be present at the function. Specially trained health volunteers, numbering 13,000, will visit every house in the district to distribute diethylcarbamazine citrate (DEC) and albendazole tablets. Those present in the house should take the tablet in front of the volunteers. The other members of the family will get the tablets wherever they are.

The tablets will be distributed in all government, aided and unaided schools from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Class teachers will distribute the tablets.

The tablets would be distributed in all offices, shops and other establishments.

An expert team has been deputed to all hospitals.
