VIJAYAWADA: “Education Matters”, a Chennai-based educational consulting company, is offering partial scholarships to students of Andhra Pradesh to study in any of the 15 selected universities in the UK in the January 2010 intake. A total of 60 scholarships – ranging between a minimum value of GBP 500 (appox. Rs.40,000) and a maximum value of GBP 4,000 (Rs.3 lakh) – are available for students of AP. Of the 60 scholarships, eight will be offered at the rate of GBP 1,000 while one student will be eligible for the all India scholarship of GBP 4,000. These scholarships are over and above any other scholarship that a university offers. The eligibility for these scholarships is a first class degree and a confirmed admission into any of the following participating universities: University of Bedfordshire; Birmingham City University; University of Glamorgan; Glasgow Caledonian University; Kingston University; University of Leicester; Liverpool Hope University; Nottingham Trent University; Oxford Brookes University; The University of Plymouth; The Robert Gordon University; Sheffield Hallam University; Thames Valley University; Staffordshire University; and University of Wales Newport. Only the students who have applied through “Education Matters” are eligible for the scholarships. The scholarships are being launched in the city at a day long programme to be held at Manor Food Plaza near Hotel D.V. Manor on Thursday. Representatives of a few of the above universities from the UK will be attending the event and they may offer spot admissions. The last date for applying is Dec 15.
