Gear up for winter adventure at Manali

BANGALORE: For those of you interested in skiing, Indiahikes will organised a winter trekking and skiing camp in January 2010 amid the snow-capped mountains of Manali in Himachal Pradesh.
Devised for beginners, the ski course comprises basic techniques such as balancing and slow turns before participants graduate to downhill runs.
The course intends to provide an adventurous experience of snow, and the skiing camp will be held at Kothi, a hamlet near Manali.
Col. Premchand, the first Indian to summit the Kanchenjunga peak, will head the camp.
A veteran of the mountains, he has climbed 28 peaks, including the celebrated Nanda Devi, and has led two expeditions to the Everest. He led the Indian team in the Winter Olympics and skiied down Rohtang Pass solo.
