A litany against litter in Bangalore

Correspondent

GREEN MESSAGE: St. Joseph’s Indian High School students set an example for fellow citizens.

BANGALORE: It was a different kind of a day out at Cubbon Park for these schoolchildren. Over 600 students of St. Joseph’s Indian High School on Monday cleaned up the surroundings of Cubbon Park and spread the message to keep the park clean. Taken up under “My Park and My Pride” project, the youngsters showed that they have greater responsibility towards environment.

School principal Gilbert Saldanha S.J. said that Cubbon Park is a heritage site and one should not permit it to be littered. The aim of the campaign was to take civic and environmental education from classroom to the field and vice-versa. “Such activities will also help our students become sensitive and active citizens,” he said.
