“Rs. 2.52 lakh extended as relief”

Tuticorin: Collector G. Prakash distributed identity cards to as many as twenty two members belonging to the Ulemas and Employees Welfare Board in the district at the Collectorate here on Monday.

Briefing the media, Mr. Prakash said the district administration has extended a sum of Rs. 2.52 lakh towards relief for the affected in the wake of rainfall. Thirty two houses were damaged following the continuous downpour and a sum of Rs. 2, 000 was extended to each of the affected. Out of the 53 tanks in the district, 37 tanks had been completely filled. However there was no breach or damage in the tanks, he said.

The officials concerned were taking stock of the rain affected areas for restoration works. The district administration was prepared to meet any contingency, Mr. Prakash said.
