Industrial effluents: DMDK seeks solution

Tuticorin: Cadres of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam submitted a petition to Collector here on Monday alleging that industrial effluents on SIPCOT premises were posing a grave threat to the health of the people.

P. Ponraj, district secretary, DMDK, alleged that the agriculture lands available in the vicinity would not be conducive for growing crops and the farmers, who largely depend on their field, had to suffer.

Hence he demanded the intervention of district administration and pollution control board to take necessary steps immediately in this regard.

“If there is no solution to this problem, along with our leader Vijayakanth and the public, we will stage a widespread protest over the issue,” he said.
