NEW DELHI: Celebrating the life and times of Russian painter and philosopher Nicholas Roerich, the Academy of Third World Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture are mounting an exhibition of photographs and prints at M. F. Husain Art Gallery on the university campus this week. The exhibition on “Nicholas Roerich: Banner of Peace - Roerich Pact” will be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit this Wednesday at 6 p.m. It will be curated by Manju Kak and Alena Adamkova in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts at Jamia. The inaugural ceremony will be followed by the screening of a documentary film titled “Messenger of Beauty”. The exhibition is being organised on the occasion of an international seminar on “Nicholas Roerich: His Legacy and Quest” at Mir Taqi Mir Conference Hall on the Jamia campus this Thursday. The participating countries include Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Mongolia, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and India. The inaugural address at the seminar will be delivered by Ashok Vajpeyi, Chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi, while A.M. Kadakin, the ambassador-designate of the Russian Federation to India, will be the guest of honour. The exhibition will be open for public viewing up to November 18.
