Pradeep and Pramod clinch honours

HYDERABAD: H.K. Pradeep and Pramod Joshua clinched the honours in the second round of the Gulf Cup dirt track racing for two-wheelers, sponsored by Gulf Oil Corporation, at NTR Grounds here on Sunday.

The two TVS riders won the glamour categories — the Indian Expert Class Group A and B respectively for foreign motorcycles upto 260cc to stay on course for berths in the Clash of the Titans which in turn pits the best of the three legs of the Gulf Dirt Track Cup.

The event which attracted 130 entries was a keenly contested affair in most of the categories.

Pradeep shunted his TVS teammates from Bangalore Pramod and P. Nataraj to second and third places respectively in the opening event of the day — the first race of the Indian Expert Class in Group A.

Pramod though was too good in the Group B, winning both the races with a degree of comfort. Pradeep, and Arvind did try their best to but all that they could do was to settle for second and third places in both the races of the group.

It was the turn of Maninder Singh and Fabio Chindy to hog the limelight in the Private Expert Classes Group A winning a race each and finishing second in the other. Badal Doshi had to be content with third place in both the races.

Coimbatore’s R. Prakash, riding a TVS RTS 160, won both the races in the Private Expert Class for Group B. P.K. Raju from Kerala and R. Murthy (Bangalore) and Syed Hidayat (also from Bangalore) won a race each in the Novice class.

B. Anand Kumar emerged winner in the College Class though he was challenged all the way by Yasser Arafat and S. Rajesh who finished second and third respectively. — Principal Correspondent
