Unable to get back phone, girl ends life
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: An 11-year-old girl allegedly hanged herself to death from her ceiling fan at her residence in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Saturday night.
The fear of being admonished by her father for not bringing home her mobile phone, which had been confiscated by her teacher on the previous day, reportedly led her to take the extreme step.
Her body was found by her mother, who works as a domestic help.
After being reprimanded by her father, who works in a printing press, on Friday for not bringing back the phone, the girl had gone to school the next day only to find that the teacher concerned was on leave.
The phone had been confiscated because it was against the rules to use mobile phones on the school premises.
According to the police, the girl returned home early from school and informed her father that she was not able to bring home the instrument. Later in the evening, the girl fed her younger brother, locked his bedroom and committed suicide in the kitchen.
