MADURAI: The Indian Oil Corporation conducted an emergency response mock drill at its LPG bottling plant in Mattapparai in Dindigul district on November 6. It was an exercise required to be conducted twice a year by major hazardous industries such as LPG bottling plants, oil terminals and other industries, a press release from IOC Area Office here said. According to D. Murali, Senior Area Manager, IOC, the mock drill was conducted in coordination with local authorities such as Factories Department, Fire and Rescue Services Department, Pollution Control Board, police and other agencies. The LPG bottling plant was equipped with modern fire fighting facilities and alarm systems to manage any on-site emergencies, Mr. Murali said. Aim of drillThe main aim of conducting mock drills was to check the preparedness for any emergency and working of the fire fighting systems so as to give assurance of safety to the public. S.N. Vijayakumar, Senior Plant Manager, LPG bottling plant, Mattaparai, led the team in the mock fire drill. S. Ismail, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, Madurai, was among the officials who witnessed the mock drill.
