Yoga championship in Bellary from November 14

BELLARY: The two-day 29th Karnataka State Yoga Championship-2009 will be held at the Uma Maehswara Kalyana Mantap in the city from November 14.

The championship has been organised by the Bellary unit of Arya Vysya Officials and Professionals Association (AVOPA) in association with BIRDS Yoga Shikshana Kuteera, Bellary, and Karnataka State Amateur Yoga Sports Association, Bangalore.

J. Jayaprakash Gupta, president of AVOPA, said that the yoga competitions would be held in eight categories based on age for men and women.

The first three winners in each category will receive medals and certificates. The winners were eligible to participate in the national-level championship, he said. He added that qualified referees would judge the events and allot marks to the participants.

Amarnath of the association said that a team would be finalised to participate in the national-level competitions to be held at Hyderabad from January 9 to 14.
