Determined: Speech and hearing impaired students climbing Chamundi Hills in Mysore recently. MYSORE: It was an unforgettable experience for visually challenged and speech and hearing-impaired students in the district, when they trekked the city’s prime landmark – the Chamundi Hills here recently. The students, about 25 in number, were also given exposure to bouldering, rappelling and chimney climbing atop the hills. The Rotary Mysore Adventure Corps and the International Academy of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, which organised the expedition, provided all the necessary gear, instructions and interpreters to make the task smooth and easy for the students. OverviewShankara Subramanya N., Chairman of the International Academy of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, gave an overview of the proposed activities, which was interpreted for the participants. Pankaj Mallick, Laxman Raju, Shreyas K. and Ananya B. from IAMAS gave the students the basic training, before embarking upon the expedition.
