Sonia will decide CLP meeting date: Rosaiah

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Saturday said Congress president Sonia Gandhi will decide the date for convening the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting. “She may fix the date and inform us,” he said.

Mr. Rosaiah, who was here on a maiden visit after taking over as the Chief Minister, was talking to journalists after meeting Ms. Gandhi to discuss the political situation. She enquired about the pending public interest litigation in the Andhra Pradesh High Court about the CLP meeting and later told him that she would speak to the Law Minister and Congress general secretary in charge of AP M. Veerappa Moily about the date and the latter would “get back to me.”

‘Always comfortable’

Asked whether he was getting cooperation from the Ministers and MLAs or he had any reservations about their behaviour, he replied: “There is no reservation. They were cooperating to the extent possible and unlike other parties every Congressman would abide by the directions of the high command.”

From the level of the Chief Minister to those at the grassroot level everyone would look up for advice from the leadership.

When questioned on whether he was comfortable in the arrangement and was confident of holding the post for the full term, Mr Rosaiah said he was always “comfortable and satisfied.” There was no question of fixed tenure for the Chief Minister.

To another question, Mr. Rosaiah said he did not feel insulted by the decision of Women and Child Development Minister Konda Surekha’s decision to hand over her resignation letter (protesting non-appointment of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy as CM) directly to the Governor instead of him.

The moment he got her resignation letter from the Governor for his endorsement he did so and sent it back to the Raj Bhavan.
