Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The byelections to the Firozabad Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh and 31 Assembly segments in seven States, held under heavy security, passed off peacefully, the Election Commission sources said.
In Firozabad, a keen contest was witnessed between Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh’s daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav and Congress nominee Raj Babbar.
Minor complaints
“Everything is all right in all the constituencies, including in sensitive Kannur in Kerala and 10 seats in West Bengal,” said an official. Barring minor complaints of EVM malfunctioning in some places, polling was smooth.
The counting of votes will be on November 10.
