NEW DELHI: Over 60 delegates from the European Union took part in the three-day EU-India Science and Technology Cooperation Days at Jawaharlal Nehru University towards the weekend. The event was held to enhance participation of researchers outside Europe in projects under the Food, Agriculture, Fisheries and Biotechnology (FAFB) theme of the seventh Framework Programme funded by the European Commission (EC). Areas of research“The aim of this event is to discuss new and important areas of research funded by the EC and to encourage researchers to tap into the potential of new EC funded projects,” said JNU rector Professor Rajendra Prasad, who is a National Contact Point of Biocircle -- an EU-funded project to encourage participation of Indian researchers in FAFB projects. Mutual interestThe event was also aimed at giving information about opportunities for cooperation between European and Indian researchers, providing a platform for various stakeholders to initiate cooperation in research fields, identifying areas of mutual interest for future partnerships and providing practical training workshops. Besides Biocircle, other projects which were involved in organising the event included the European Union and India Enhanced Cooperation Framework for Improved Bilateral Dialogue in the Field of Science and Technology (EUINEC), Initiative for the Development and Integration of Indian and European Research (New INDIGO) and the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC).
