CPI general secretary inaugurates party new office building

KHAMMAM: People in the country have lots of struggles to continue and the Communist Party of India would support and strengthen all such struggles, said CPI general secretary A. B Bardhan on Saturday.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the new office building of the party Khammam district council, he said the party had been spearheading the fight against the price rise. It had extended all support for the fight for fair wages for the labourers and a fair deal for the farmers.

“As Communists we are fighting for socialism and socialist revolution in the country,” he said calling for a greater role of the all Communists and sympathizers in it.

He pointed out that the beauty of the new building constructed by the party for its office in Khammam lied in the contribution made by the organisation for the good of the people, but not in the brick and mortar.

The foundation of the building was laid on October 7, 2007 and it was inaugurated after two years on the same auspicious day, which was known in the Communist history for the triumph of the October Revolution in Russia.

Calling for a greater participation of women in politics, he said the growing influence of the money power and muscle power and terrorist attacks had cast dark shadows over democracy.

Those who could spend crores of rupees were hopeful of influencing the public. Nearly 77 per cent of people in the country were living on less than Rs 20 a day.

Some 1.5 lakh farmers had committed suicides in the past six years.

He called upon the party men to gear up for the times of great importance and grave challenges ahead for the country.
