VISAKHAPATNAM: Matsyakarula Reservation Aikya Porata Samithi and the Intellectuals Forum have jointly condemned the filing of a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Act against an Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Mylapalli Adinarayana by the brothers of Minister P. Balaraju. Two cases had been booked against the Minister and nine others for their alleged involvement in preventing a Zilla Parishad employee from casting his vote and stopping the Mandal Development Officer Chandrasekhar from visiting an election booth during the last Assembly elections. Mr. Adinarayana, who is the APP at the Chintapalli Magistrate Court, as part of his duty appealed to the Judge to issue arrest warrants against the Minister for failing to attend the court, Samithi conveners Ganta Papa Rao and Ch. Pola Raju told a media conference on Saturday. They alleged that this had prompted the Minister’s brothers to foist a false case against Adinarayana. They appealed to the Minister to intervene in the matter and withdraw the case. They expressed the view that the fishermen community was on the threshold of development and harassing a person from that community on flimsy grounds at this juncture would negate its development. A fact finding committee would go to the agency to find out the truth. The committee would meet Mr. Adinarayana, the Superintendent of Police and the Minister and his brothers. The committee would comprise of representatives of B.C., S.C, S.T., Minorities and people’s organisations. They appealed to the Minister to look into the issue with a broad outlook as it could otherwise create a rift between members of the socially backward communities. Mr. Ganta Papa Rao warned that if the Minister failed to respond properly, the samithi would be forced to move the High Court for justice apart from taking it to the notice of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister. Intellectual Forum representative P. Nagaraju was also present at the media conference.
