GUNTUR: Corporate companies these days were on the look-out for readily deployable candidates unlike in the past when they used to spend time in training the new recruits, said Virtusa Global Delivery Head Santanu Paul. Renowned personality in Software Testing domain globally, former senior vice-president Madhu Murthy, of Applabs, while addressing students of Management and Computer Science at Vignan University, explained the key role a software tester plays in the Development Life Cycle of any software and the growing demand for testers. He advised the students to equip themselves with International Software Testing Quality Board (ISTQB), a certification that is accepted by clients worldwide. Asking them to be part of open source software revolution that had brought a paradigm shift in the software development procedures. Any development that had taken place in any part of the world was now made available to all of us through internet with equal opportunities. An IIT graduate from IIT, Madras Santanu exhorted the students to join the industry that was growing. Management students must acquire certifications in banking and financial services like National Certification in Financial Markets (NCFM) to grab the opportunities in the fastest growing BFSI domain, he opined. “Students should develop sales and marketing skills as every job we did involved a bit of marketing,” he observed. Mr. Santanu said every student should strive for at least one skill other than regular curriculum and let the world also know their proficiency by acquiring a certificate offered by standard bodies of evaluation like SUN, Microsoft, Oracle, Lab View etc. He advised them to be chased by industries rather than chasing them.
