Transactions involving land under Private Forests Act simplified

Special Correspondent

Udhagamandalam: The procedure for obtaining permission to buy or sell lands which come under the ambit of the Tamil Nadu Preservation of Private Forests (TNPPF) Act has been simplified, according to Nilgiris Collector Anandrao V. Patil.

Applications

In a press note issued here on Saturday, he said that pattadars of lands notified under the Act can hereafter submit applications in the prescribed forms to the Joint Sub-Registrar or the Sub-Registrar for sale, lease, mortgage etc.

Hitherto applications had to be submitted to the committee. The applications will be forwarded to the district committee which after following the norms laid down under the TNPPF Act will clear them on a priority basis.

After obtaining the permission of the committee, the Sub-Registrar will release the registered documents. The committee will, henceforth, meet every fortnight to process the applications.

He asked the people not to be misled by rumours floated by vested interests.

Mr. Patil reiterated that there is no ban on transactions dealing with such lands.
