NCC cadets take out rally

NCC cadets taking out rally in Ongole to create awareness about cancer on Saturday. —

ONGOLE: The NCC cadets took out a rally through the main streets here today to create awareness among people about cancer and the need to prevent it.

As part of cancer prevention week, about 200 cadets began their rally from CSR Sarma College and went through the streets touching the Church Centre, government hospital, municipal high school etc.

Earlier, a seminar was held in the college in which District Medical and Health Officer T Neerada participated. She exhorted the cadets to lead a disciplined life and keep themselves away from tobacco products to prevent cancer. Saying that it is easier to prevent cancer, she asked the cadets to spread the message among their friends and relatives.

College secretary and correspondent Karavadi Venkateswarlu participated in the programme.

NCC officer Manogna Kumar welcomed gathering.

VIJAYAWADA: NCC cadets of the 1 (Andhra) EME Coy took out a rally to mark the National Cancer Awareness Day from V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC) to Benz Circle on Saturday.

Some 80 students drawn from the VRSEC and Government Polytechnic College participated in the rally that turned the attention of the passers-by to the most important aspect of raising awareness about cancer and methods to prevent it. The cadets held placards with slogans against tobacco consumption and seeking participation of the public in the noble cause.

Subedar S.K. Singh of the EME Coy guided the students in organising the rally, while VRSEC NCC caretaker M.S.V.D. Sudarsan and others participated.

Mr. Sudarsan said that the NCC cadets were participating in many programmes from time to time as part of their social responsibility and national integration.
