NALGONDA: The Zilla Parishad general body meeting held here on Saturday witnessed a heated debate on the menace of viral fevers and seasonal ailments. Cutting across party affiliations, several members expressed their serious concern over the alleged widespread prevalence of the seasonal ailments at various parts of the district and attributed the menace to the failure of the departments concerned to contain it. Nalgonda MP G Sukhender Reddy asked the Medical and Health Department officials to address the concerns of the members and explain steps taken by the department to protect the public health. Intervening at this juncture, the Collector S A M Rizwi said that special officers were appointed to effectively monitor the implementation of sanitation drive and other epidemic prevention measures. Funds to the tune of Rs. 10,000 have been kept at the disposal of the gram panchayats to utilise the same for taking up sanitation and cleanliness drive in the villages, he said.
