CML likely to start early next year

HYDERABAD: India will, in all probability, become the first country to host the Cue Masters League (CML) early next year featuring the three formats – pool, billiards and snooker.

Capt. P.V.K. Mohan, president of the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India and vice-president of the International Billiards & Snooker Federation, told The Hindu that after extensive discussions with players and officials, it had been decided to launch the CML early next year.

“The response on sponsorship from the corporate front is encouraging, we will come out with the schedule soon,” Capt. Mohan said.

“From the research we have done on how the concept would be accepted, we find that it has been welcomed by the players and corporates.

“The CML should be a television-friendly format given its short duration,” Capt. Mohan said.

“There are many innovative concepts being worked out by involving players like Geet Sethi. Our ultimate desire is to see that a transparent and competitive set-up is in place to take care of training and exposure for the Indian cueists,” Capt. Mohan said.
