Shamsheer Ali scores seven

NEW DELHI: Seven goals by Shamsheer Ali, including two decisive ones in the last chukker, helped Equisport/Classic to a thrilling 8-7 victory over Jaipur Polo Company (JPC)/Horse and Wagon in the semifinals of the Maharaja Hari Singh polo tournament at the Jaipur Polo ground here on Saturday.

Abhimanyu Pathak scored the other goal for the winner, and it was incidentally the last goal for the team that helped it to an 8-6 lead after the heroics of Shamsheer Ali. Manupal Godara scored five goals including the last that bridged the gap between the two teams to one goal. Uday Kalaan and Buchi Prakash scored the other goals.

In the other match, Jindal/Elevation outplayed Navy 12-3 to march into the final. Bhawani Kalvi (4), Muguel Saragia (4), Simran Shergill (3) and Satinder Garcha scored for the winner. Akhil Sirohi (2) and Angad Kalaan were the marksmen for the loser. — Special Correspondent
