Placement brochure launched

CHENNAI: The Department of Management Studies, University of Madras, launched its placement brochure for 2009-10 here on Wednesday, with information on projects undertaken and skills of students for recruiters.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam called for a revamp of the skill development programme offered by the University. He asked the department to introduce at least one foreign language in the curriculum soon. “Computer knowledge is a must and management students should also be taught,” he said. The Vice-Chancellor also announced a grant of Rs.50,000 to the department for soft skill enhancement.
Addressing the students G.D. Sharma, president (HR), BGR Energy Systems, said that opportunities in infrastructure sector is going to take precedence over IT and one must tap the huge demand-supply gap in the sector. P.T. Srinivasan, professor and head of the department of management studies, said that placement brochure represents the dreams, hopes and aspirations of the second year MBA students. A.
