Showcasing talents: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare S. Gandhiselvan taking a look at the working models displayed in the science exhibition held in Namakkal on Saturday. NAMAKKAL: The District Level Science Exhibition, organised with an aim to kindle the curiosity and interest in science among school students, attracted a large number of students from various parts of the district. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare S. Gandhiselvan inaugurated the exhibition on the Government Boys Higher Secondary School (Namakkal South) premises on Saturday. Over 250 students from 125 schools in the district displayed a large number of working models and information charts on various science concepts. Several models showcased the application of science and technology in daily life. Many of these models, based on emerging fields such as biotechnology and information technology, gave the visitors an opportunity to get a peep into the future. Models based on robotics provided a visual treat to the visitors. The models were categorised under the following areas: Environmental changes and impacts, green energy, biotechnology in improving human health, information and communication technologies, mathematics for daily life, and science concepts in sports. OpportunityOrganisers said that the exhibition had presented an opportunity for the school students to showcase their creative talents. It would encourage them to come up with more innovations. The Minister appreciated the students for their efforts and urged them to take more interest in the field of science and technology. Collector U. Sagayam and senior officials were present.
