Fundamental: District Revenue Officer M. Rajarathinam (left) releasing a book on Right to Information Act at a workshop for revenue officials in Salem on Saturday. SALEM: Officials must be aware of the provisions of the Right to Information (RTI) Act and its importance, said District Revenue Officer M. Rajarathinam here on Saturday. Inaugurating a workshop on RTI Act and its implications and releasing a book on ‘Right To Information Act, 2005 with Comments and Case Studies,’ written by S. N. Venkatesan, Anna Institute of Management, who also conducted the workshop, Mr. Rajarathinam said that the right to know had become imperative and also the fundamental right of the people. Transparency, he further stated, had become the buzz word and everyone should be committed to it. He asked the revenue officials to make use of the workshop and understand all important aspects of the RTI Act. Later, the officials got clarified on various aspects of the RTI Act in the workshop, which was organised by Tamil Nadu Revenue Officials Association, Salem Centre. Association State vice-president N. Sakthivel, district president M. Alagirisamy, secretary A. Jeevakarunyam and others participated. Nearly 200 revenue officials took part in the workshop.
