‘Road Safety Week’ from Monday

Kozhikode: The city traffic police will observe ‘Road Safety Week’ from November 9 to 16 as part of its efforts to bring down the numbers of accidents.

City Commissioner of Police S. Sreejith will inaugurate the programme at Girls Higher Secondary School, Nadakkavu, here, at 10 a.m. on Monday.

The Kerala Police mascot Pappu and the volunteers of the traffic awareness groups will be feted at the function.

Programmes planned

Street plays, painting contests for high school, higher secondary and college students, quiz and a marathon will be held and processions taken out as part of the observance, V.M. Sandeep, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said here on Saturday.

Eye camp

Free eye camps will be organised at the mofussil bus station, Ramanattukara and Kunnamangalam.

The Traffic department will take stringent measures to curb accidents and book the offenders, Mr. Sandeep said.
