Discharge from Stanley reservoir suspended

SALEM: The discharge from Stanley reservoir in Mettur has been suspended from Friday morning following heavy rains in Delta districts.

Delta region

PWD officials scaled down the outflow staggeringly since Thursday night and maintained 1000 cusecs till Friday morning before completely suspending the flow from its sluices for the Delta region.

Irrigation

As such the dam is releasing 796 cusecs of which a mere 191 cusecs was let out in the river course while the rest in canals for irrigation in Salem, Erode and Namakkal districts, which had been experiencing less rains.

Water level

The water level on Friday evening stood at 75.62 feet with storage of 37.731 tmcft. The inflow into the reservoir had registered a marginal increase at 7439 cusecs. The officials also hoped that once the rains ceased in Delta, discharge also would be resumed.
