Taking stock: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi takes a tour of the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore on Friday. — Coimbatore: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Friday inspected the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, one of the short-listed venues for the conduct of the World Tamil Conference in June 2010. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary K.S. Sripathi, Union Minister for Information Technology A. Raja, Ministers Veerapandi S. Arumugam (Agriculture), A.V. Velu, Arcot N. Veerasamy (Electricity), K. Ponmudy (Higher Education), Pongalur N. Palanisamy (Rural Industries and Animal Husbandry), S. Ramachandran (Khadi Industries) and K.N. Nehru (Transport), Collector P. Umanath, Nodal Officer S. Prabhakaran and Vice-Chancellor of Tamil University M. Rajendran. Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) K. Radhakrishnan, City Police Commissioner P. Sivanandi and Inspector General of Police, west zone, Pramod Kumar accompanied the official team. The Chief Minister was briefed that all the five halls put together would have 1.10 lakh sq feet and additional 95,000 sq ft would be available for the conduct of the conference. Shawl presentedThe office-bearers of CODISSIA welcomed the Chief Minister and presented him a shawl. They thanked him for choosing Coimbatore for the Tamil conference. The Chief Minister, later, held a meeting with the officials on the conduct of the conference.
