BANGALORE : After its shock loss to Maharashtra in the Shafi Quereshi Cup (girls), Andhra Pradesh’s hopes of salvaging some pride in the Narang Cup (boys) final went up in smoke as an inspired Air India rallied to win the tie 2-1 to take home the title in the junior National inter-State badminton championship at Mandya on Wednesday night. The Open championship got underway with Prakash Padukone inaugurating the event. About 96 matches were played in the open events on the first day and all fancied players moved into the second round.
