I will go by directive of central leadership: Yeddyurappa

Neena Vyas and J. Balaji

NEW DELHI: Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said he was ready to go by the directions of the BJP central leaders to resolve the political crisis in the State.

Talking to The Hindu here late on Wednesday he said the central leadership had made it clear that there was no question of leadership change in the wake of demand made by the Reddy brothers – Revenue Minister G. Karunakara Reddy and Tourism Minister G. Janardhana Reddy.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said he was not bothered by the crisis. Asked whether he was ready to consider the other demands of the Reddy brothers if they agreed to drop their demand for his replacement, he said: “I will go by the directions of the party’s central leaders.”

He would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday to invite him to lay the foundation for a housing project for the flood-hit.

Wednesday’s talks produced no result, with the BJP unable to find common ground between the two factions.
