Nedumbassery: St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Church in Angamaly will soon be elevated to the status of ‘Sunoro Cathedral’ (church where a holy relic is kept) by the Patriarch of Antioch Ignatius Zaka I, announced Catholicos Thomas I here on Wednesday. Addressing presspersons, he said the official declaration in this regard would be made at a public function to be held on the church premises in connection with the famous ‘Annidha festival’ on November 15. The function would also be attended by various social and spiritual leaders. The church will become the first cathedral to be known as “Sunoro Cathedral” in the Jacobite Church, which for long has been preserving “Sunoro”, a portion of the holy dress of St. Mary.
