Vidyaranyapura in last four

BANGALORE: Vidyaranyapura romped into the semifinals of the 12th BCYA State-level hockey tournament with a thumping 5-0 victory over Jain College at the BEL grounds, Jalahalli here on Tuesday.

Palani Kumar struck a fine brace finding the target in the 11th and 27th minutes of play before Raghu (36th), Vinay (37th) and Sunil Kumar (47th, penalty stroke) completed the rout.

In another quarterfinal match, DYSS quelled the challenge from ASC Boys Company 4-2. Sahavev netted a brace, the second of which came off a stroke award, while Dhananjay (27th) and Vasu (32nd) added to the tally.

Bhengra netted both the goals for ASC Boys.
