Stop political suicide, says Suresh Kumar

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Urban Development and Law Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader S. Suresh Kumar has written to all his ministerial colleagues asking them to desist from committing “political suicide” and introspect regarding the on-going political developments in the interest of the party and its ideology. “Will we wake up before people teach us a lesson? It will not serve any purpose if we regret it after it is too late,” he said.

In the letter, Mr. Suresh Kumar said: “Whoever may emerge as winner in this episode, it is the party and its ordinary worker, who has struggled for its success without any expectations, who are going to be the losers.”

Terming the present episode as a “self-inflicted crime”, he said such unwanted developments were a strong blow to the party’s image. He called upon his colleagues not to become witness to the uprooting of the BJP in the State.

Trying to recall the grand swearing in ceremony of the first ever BJP government in Karnataka in May 2008, Mr. Kumar said: “Have we forgotten the expectations of the people so quickly? Is it the destination we were supposed to head for?” He said personal interests were responsible for the downfall of several previous governments.

“Instead of learning from earlier examples, we too have set out to commit similar blunders. Political suicide is not good for anybody.”
