Satyam case: orders issued for special court
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The State government on Tuesday issued orders to establish a special court here headed by an additional chief metropolitan magistrate to exclusively deal with the trial of the Satyam scam case involving B. Ramalinga Raju and others.
The special court is being set up to relieve the 14th additional chief metropolitan magistrate court, which dealt with the case so far, of its additional burden.
The decision to establish the special court was taken by the State Cabinet at its meeting here on October 29 in compliance with a request made by the Deputy Inspector-General, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Hyderabad.
The chargesheet filed by the CBI before the 14th additional chief metropolitan magistrate court ran into 65,000 pages and cited as many as 433 witnesses, 1,532 documents, 62 material objects, etc.
The DIG sought the special court in view of the “voluminous nature of documents and material objects”.
