No delay in textbook distribution expected

CHENNAI: There will be no delay in the distribution of textbooks to classes I and VI covered under the Equitable Standard Education or other classes in the next academic year (2010-2011).

A government release issued here on Tuesday stated that printing of textbooks had been taken up. Of 6.43 crore copies of the books for classes other than those under the Equitable Standard Education, 2.80 crore copies were ready. Efforts were on to cover the rest so that the distribution would be done by the first week of June. Roughly one crore copies of text books would be required for the classes I and VI. Steps were being taken to get the books printed in modern presses, the release added. — Special Correspondent
