City may receive more rain

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The city is likely to receive more rainfall on Wednesday as the trough of low pressure over southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Sri Lankan coast still persists.

Officials of the Meteorological Department said the city did not receive a significant amount of rainfall on Tuesday. The observatory in Nungambakkam recorded 42 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday. The facility in Meenambakkam received only 5 mm in the same period.

Many coastal areas of the State, including Chennai, would receive rain or thundershowers. The spell of shower or thundershowers would be heavy in some areas of the city on Wednesday, the officials said.
