BJP promises traffic guards

Going all out: BJP leaders releasing the party’s draft manifesto on Tuesday.

HYDERABAD: Setting up a 3,000-strong traffic guards, involving people in development activities, granting permission for house construction within 15 days through a single window system and spending 50 per cent of the property tax in the respective division are some promises made by the BJP if elected to power in the GHMC.

Releasing the draft manifesto II here on Tuesday, State BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya, GHMC in-charge G. Kishan Reddy and other leaders said the traffic guards would ensure that rules were obeyed, government property was not vandalised and safety for women in public places.

They said, as part of the administrative reforms to curb corruption, advanced local management (ALM) groups would be established, on the lines of those in Mumbai. The GHMC would regulate prices of commodities sold by eateries/restaurants in malls and ensure that parking fee does not exceed Rs.5 for two-wheelers and Rs.10 for four-wheelers. A clear demarcation between residential and commercial areas would be ensured. The GHMC would create a high-power nodal agency to ensure that development works take place in a planned manner .

Among others, the party promised to revive public libraries, encourage private-public partnership in different sectors including tourism and culture, children science education centres, priority to health management, and a disaster management system. The BJP leaders released the third list of 27 GHMC candidates, taking the total to 71.
