ANU warns colleges not paying affiliation fee

GUNTUR: Acharya Nagarjuna University, which did not provide information on affiliation fee and university development fee paid by affiliated colleges in Prakasam district to the Lok Satta unless it paid Rs.45,000 as fee under the RTI Act, on Tuesday said that two B.Ed. colleges in Prakasam district and one permanent college in Repalle in Guntur district had not been paying affiliation fee for last three years. Two of the permanent colleges were identified as St. Paul’s College of Education and SNBTM College.

In a startling revelation, the university Registrar said that 15 temporary colleges had not been paying affiliation fee for the past one year and some 100 colleges evaded payment of university development fee for the past one year or more.

Making these statements, Registrar M.V.N. Sarma said that provisional certificates and mark sheets of students from these colleges would be stopped till the colleges paid the required fee under both the heads.

The university authorities on Tuesday were approached by Humanities Dean Krupachari, who alleged that Telugu Department Head Satyanarayana had conducted a viva-voce for a doctoral candidate violating the norms for conduct of such a test.

The Registrar sought an explanation from Mr. Satyanarayana in the whole affair.

The university notified that the M. Phil Part-I examination would be held between November 9 and 11.

The Centre for Distance Education block in the ANU would soon have a canteen to be established at a cost of Rs.3.67 lakhs. The Academic Senate and Code Committee meetings were scheduled for Wednesday on the campus.
