DNF awards for 3 journalists

HYDERABAD: Data News Features (DNF) awards for 2008 were given away to three working journalists at the first State conference of Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation (APWJF) held here on Tuesday.

Founder of DNF and veteran journalist V. Hanumantha Rao stated that Nirmala Reddy working for ‘Sakshi’ newspaper, Ajaykumar (‘Vennela’, a news magazine) and Aruna (Surya) were selected for the awards. While the first two awards were given away directly under DNF fund, the third award was given with contributions from journalist community.

In a citation of the awardees it was mentioned that Nirmala Reddy contributed on women and child issues and Ajay Kumar highlighted the pathetic living conditions of tribals. Aruna was the lone woman journalist in the State who was writing editorials for a Telugu daily newspaper.
