Balraj K.N. prefers clean lines BANGALORE: In his exhibition “Life in Black and White” at the Indian Institute of Cartoonists, Balraj K.N. does what he does best: “he makes a joke of the serious business”. Over 50 of his cartoons will be on display till November 8 at the Indian Cartoon Gallery off Mahatma Gandhi Road — the only one of its kind in the country. One can go see the copywriter-cum-cartoonist make light of all the things that are part of urban life, from relationships to business. With mostly a sense for irony in the obvious, Mr. Balraj has decided to stay away from political cartoons, opting instead for “everyday” kind of scenarios. “I’ve selected cartoons that speak about society in general,” he says. MinimalistHis cartoons are minimalist, with clean lines and little clutter. “I think cartoons with fewer lines have more impact on the reader,” he says, speaking of the emphasis on “brevity” in his work. The exhibition has cartoons about men, women, relationships, the recession, and technology, making it a light, enjoyable one to glance through. All the cartoons on display are up for sale. Catch the exhibition at No. 1 Midford House, Midford Garden, Off Mahatma Gandhi Road, Bangalore 560001. Call 41728540 or 9980091248.
