Sanam enters main draw

New Delhi: Sanam Singh returned to the professional circuit in style, toppling eighth seed Kaden Hensel in a tough three setter to qualify for the main draw of the ATP Challenger event in Charlottesville, U.S.

The two time Champion of the U.S Inter-collegiate Tennis Association Summer Championships, Sanam got the better of his Australian opponent 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 in the third and final qualifying round.

Before beating Kaden Hensel, the Indian had shocked third seed Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania in the first round.

Sanam will take on sixth seed Grega Zemlja of Slovakia in the first round of the main draw, which also has India’s numero uno singles player Somdev Devvarman. — PTI
