Coonoor: Gopalakrishnan of KSC and Keerthana Devaraj of Riverside Public School clinched the singles titles for men and women respectively in the district-level table tennis tournament conducted by the Nilgiris District Table Tennis Association and sponsored by the Kerala Samajam, here recently. Gopalakrishnan scored a hard fought 7-11, 14-12, 14-16, 11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 11-5 win over Sanjeev Kumar of CFRC, while Keerthana coasted to a comfortable 11-4, 11-8, 11-4 win over M. Mownathi of Riverside. Other results (finals): Boys: Cadets: Mohammed Fahad (Riverside PS) bt Gokul Devaraj (Riverside) 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9. Sub-juniors: Mohammed Fahad bt Gokul Devaraj 7-11, 15-13, 11-8, 6-11, 14-12. Juniors: Sanjeev Kumar (CFRC) bt Rakesh (CFRC) 11-7, 11-9, 11-7. Girls: Cadets: Jayapradeeba (St. Joseph’s, Coonoor) bt S. Combined districts table tennisAt Coimbatore, the Sankar Table Tennis Academy (STTA), affiliated to the Coimbatore District Table Tennis Association, will conduct the combined district table tennis tournament at the STTA hall on Nov. 7 and 8. The tournament features men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and singles for junior boys and girls. For entries, contact S. Sankar at 9600555510 on or before Nov. 6. To accommodate the combined district event, the 19th annual ‘Catch them Young’ table tennis tournament, conducted by the Coimbatore District Sports and Games Welfare Association, scheduled for this weekend has been postponed to Nov. 14 and 15.
