Team for Guntur today

GUNTUR: A five-member team from various Union Government departments headed by Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Director Mohammad Ali Rafath will tour district to assess the crop loss due to drought. The team, which would arrive from Vijayawada on Wednesday afternoon, will visit Phirangipuram, Narsaraopet, Rompicharla, Savalyapuram and Vinukonda.

The team consists of Seed Development Corporation joint secretary Uma Chowdary, Animal Husbandry Department assistant commissioner Ravindra Kumar, Rural Water Supply assistant advisor D. Rajasekhar, Expenditure J.D A.K. Raina, Planning Committee senior research officer Damodar, Women & Child Welfare deputy secretary etc.

The Department of Agriculture has prepared a report assessing the total crop loss due to drought at Rs.1,345 crore, which includes huge losses incurred by cotton farmers due to delayed monsoon.
