HYDERABAD: Director General of Police R.R. Girish Kumar has warned the Maoists not to underestimate the capabilities of the Police Department and assured people that the police was geared up to meet any challenge posed by the rebels.
He said the Maoists were resorting to violence in areas bordering Orissa and Chhattisgarh. They had attacked police and civilians in the past, Mr. Girish Kumar said in his address at the passing out parade of the 10th batch of Civil Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Police Constables in Amberpet on Tuesday.
The 584 cadets underwent a nine-month training which included intensive field-craft and anti-insurgency techniques by Greyhounds said Ananta Sharma, principal of the college. The cadets were also trained in martial arts and yoga apart from honing their communication and computer skills to keep up with advancing technology.
